About the RoleAs the Quality Engineer for Motoring, you will be responsible for ensuring that Halfords products meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and legality. Your key focus will be on providing proactive and timely product technologist and quality assurance contributions to the development of products, product information, and manufacturing processes.
You will collaborate with Buyers and suppliers to align, develop, and implement quality assurance processes, policies, and procedures that meet regulatory and Halfords requirements. Your expertise will be essential in evaluating products to verify compliance with company standards and relevant legislation.
Key Accountabilities- Evaluate products to ensure compliance with company standards and relevant legislation.
- Propose quality improvements, concerns management activities, and product development programs.
- Complete product specifications and assess suppliers to ensure they can consistently manufacture products to the correct specification.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to drive quality improvements and ensure a consistent quality experience for customers.
- Travel as necessary to assure at-pace product development and support sourcing activities.
- Actively engage with suppliers to reduce incoming defects.
- Support the Quality Team in other product areas and development projects as required.
- Professionally qualified to BSc in Engineering, Product Design, Applied Science, or Manufacturing disciplines, or equivalent experience.
- At least 2+ years of experience in product development and product technical/quality assurance in a Retail Quality/Technical/Technologist buying support role.
- Direct experience with Motoring product Category products, chemicals, mechanical products, electronics, or Electrical Engineering is desirable.
- Knowledge and experience of product manufacturing and quality principles (ISO).
- Understanding of customer needs and the translation of these to develop products.
- Experience of manufacturing technologies, product design, or sourcing with extended supply chain, digital business, and quality management systems is beneficial.
