We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team at BMT. As a key member of our Marine Engineering Capability, you will be responsible for delivering electrical engineering projects and providing technical expertise to our clients.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with the design of electrical engineering systems for new marine platforms, life extension programs, and in-service solutions.
- Provide advice on the integration of electrical systems and equipment within ships, submarines, and other marine platforms.
- Support technical consultancy projects across various sectors, including maritime, land, and environmental.
- Liaise with customers to understand their requirements and provide innovative solutions to complex problems.
- Manage electrical engineering projects and provide ad-hoc assistance to broader mechanical and marine engineering projects.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in an electrical-related subject or equivalent experience in the maritime or environmental sectors.
- Chartered Engineer status or Incorporated Engineer status with demonstrable experience and a commitment to achieving Chartered Engineer status.
- Proven experience in electrical engineering, with a strong understanding of electrical systems and equipment.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to lead technical projects to time, cost, and quality.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information to stakeholders.
- Ability to coach and mentor less experienced staff and receive and give feedback.
- Flexibility to work on a range of projects, across customer sites, and using a breadth of technical skills and knowledge.
- Experience dealing with equipment suppliers and manufacturers.
- Understanding of the issues pertaining to the integration of electrical systems and equipment or complex integrated electrical systems within ships or marine platforms.
- Design intent management and experience of working within a shipyard environment.
- Knowledge and experience of working with Class Society Rules.
- Good understanding of electrical regulation and legislation.
- Liaising with customers to understand their requirements and producing statements of work or proposals that deliver innovative solutions.
- Project management.
- Leading junior members of staff, supporting the technical delivery of their work and their ongoing professional development.
