We are seeking a skilled Radio Frequency Engineer to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development and maintenance of the Virginia Statewide Agencies Radio System (STARS).

About the Role

This role is responsible for ensuring the continued development and sustainability of the STARS system, which includes an integrated voice and data land mobile radio network with a microwave network backbone.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performing radio frequency engineering and obtaining/maintaining spectrum authorizations
  • Serving as the Virginia Chapter of the Association of Public-Safety Officials International (APCO) Radio Frequency Coordinator in accordance with 47 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and APCO policies
  • Resolving radio frequency interference issues
  • Providing development and sustaining engineering support
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have demonstrated experience in electrical engineering theory as applied to wireless communication systems and technology, as well as experience in signal processing, statistics, optimization, networking, and radio frequency design.

What We Offer

The Commonwealth of Virginia offers a competitive salary range of $120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. In addition to the salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement savings plan, paid leave, and other benefits available to Commonwealth of Virginia employees.
