Bridge Inspection Manager Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Bridge Inspection Manager to join our Transportation team in Birmingham.

About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for you to take on a senior role, working with the Engineering team to develop and deliver bridge inspection programmes.

As a successful candidate, you will have a degree or qualification in civil engineering and extensive experience in highway structures inspections.

You will be responsible for developing and managing progress of principal, general, special, and asbestos management inspection programmes.

You will review and approve principal, general, special, and asbestos management inspections, liaise with the assessment team, and communicate with external organisations.

You will also provide advice to client organisation and third parties, agree on further investigations, and facilitate their implementation.

The ideal candidate will have experience with special access techniques and arrangements, a current full driving licence, and project ownership skills.

They should be able to demonstrate mentoring skills and contribute to shaping our diversity and inclusion initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage inspection programmes to ensure compliance with CS 450 and contractual requirements.
  • Review and approve inspections, providing expert guidance and ensuring high-quality results.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to confirm defect/structure analysis and action outcomes.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and third-party organisations to secure access for inspections.
  • Provide expert advice to support decision-making and drive business growth.
Requirements
  • Degree or qualification in civil engineering with significant experience in highway structures inspections.
  • Proven track record of delivering complex projects and leading high-performing teams.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships.
  • Experience with special access techniques and arrangements, including navigating challenging environments.
  • Current full driving licence, enabling travel across various locations.
