Company Overview

We are a major player in the Transpennine Route Upgrade, a transformative long-term railway infrastructure program that will improve connectivity in the North and deliver real benefits for passengers and communities along this pivotal rail artery.

Job Description

This role involves providing clear direction and environmental management support to the Project Teams. You will work across the Alliance teams to develop and implement processes and procedures to deliver an effective environment management strategy in line with Network Rail strategic environmental priorities and requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Embed yourself with the specific design and construction team from concept design through to delivery
  • Work with the project and sustainability teams to embed the Network Rail standard; NR/L2/ENV/015 Environment and Social Minimum Requirements
  • Check compliance of all works against the Environment and Social Management Plans and (ESMP)
  • Draft and implement site-specific Waste Management Plans
  • Undertake site inspections as necessary and complete the Environment and Social Risk Assessments
  • Ensure compliance with the Construction Phase ESMP and the existing Site Waste Management Plan
  • Raise Close Calls, both constructive and positive for improving environmental and safety performance on site
  • Identify and implement opportunities to reduce energy and water usage at our sites
  • Undertake monthly KPI data collation and submission to the Client
  • Work with the Social Management team to deliver community activities including work experiences, talks at schools etc
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Previous experience of delivering environmental projects/programmes
  • Knowledge and experience of implementing Environmental Management standards
  • Continual improvement programme and project delivery experience
  • Experience drafting Management Plans and Risk Assessments
  • Experience of providing technical energy management and environmental sustainability advice to staff and stakeholders at all levels and with different technical understanding
