Are you a dedicated and compassionate nurse looking to specialize in dermatology? We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our dynamic team in Dermatology Outpatients at the Churchill Hospital.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced nurse to work in a wide range of dermatology clinics and day case activity. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in dermatology, working alongside a dynamic group of nurses and doctors who are passionate about delivering high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Supporting Tumour clinics to run smoothly and efficiently.
  2. Helping alleviate patient's anxiety.
  3. Following completion of the procedure, the nurse will apply a dressing to the surgical site.
  4. Giving wound care advice and post-procedure instructions.
  5. Ensuring that the patient understands what they need to do to care for their wound and that they have appropriate follow-up in place.
  6. Supporting Outpatient clinics to run smoothly and efficiently.
  7. Working independently within nurse-led clinics, when competence is achieved.
  8. Supporting both medical and nursing students who may be on placement/education days in the department.
  9. Ensuring that patients have the correct investigations undertaken when needed in the department and signposting them to the appropriate departments if external to dermatology.
  10. Undertaking Wound assessment/Nurse treat clinics, which involves wound assessment, giving biopsy results, undertaking wound dressing, referring on to community-based nursing colleagues as appropriate, and involving dermatology doctors when appropriate - this will be once competence is achieved.
  11. Undertaking skin prick testing and applying patch testing batteries to patients' skin, thus supporting Allergy-based clinics, once competence is achieved.
  12. Administering ultraviolet to patients once trained and competent to do so, thus supporting the Nurse-led Phototherapy clinics.
