Network Infrastructure Specialist

As a key member of our Tech Ops team, you will play a vital role in overseeing the technical health of Whitbread's network estate.
Our network transformation project is one of the biggest in our history, with a cutting-edge core network featuring 40Gbps fabric running across multiple data centres and near-instantaneous stateful failover of service.
To help us deliver this scalable software-defined network transformation to our 1,200 locations, we are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join our team and contribute to this exciting technology transformation.
As the Network Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the robust management and support of our network infrastructure, deploying network components, designing, implementing, and maintaining solutions using a range of technologies relevant to the network domain (SD-WAN and Cisco).
Key Responsibilities:
- Implementation of new network solutions and/or improving the efficiency of current networks
- Installation, configuration, and support of network equipment including routers, security appliances, switches, wireless access points, and similar infrastructure
- Investigating faults in the network, working collaboratively with the Network Services third-party
- Maximising network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting
- Implement and manage status reporting, metrics, and benchmarks of network status and performance to key stakeholders
- Review and accept new releases of software from vendors, and manage the deployment of software into the managed estate
Requirements:
- Solid understanding of SD Networking, including SD-WAN and SD-Access
- Experience with Aruba or Cisco infrastructure devices (switching/routing/security)
- Experience with Aruba or Meraki cloud-managed infrastructure systems
- Proven hands-on network engineering experience
- Deep understanding of networking protocols and technologies
- Manage relationships with major vendors and service providers to ensure that the services they provide meet the needs of the organisation
- Proven experience in managing external IT service providers
