Job Summary

The Estates Department at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust provides a comprehensive maintenance, repair, and installation service of the buildings, grounds, engineering services, and associated equipment throughout the Trust.

To be successful in this role, you must have served a recognised Mechanical or Building Services apprenticeship and gained a wide experience in building engineering services and plant maintenance with a BTEC HNC level or City and Guilds plus relevant post-apprenticeship training or equivalent experience.

You must hold a current UK (manual) driving licence and reside within half an hour's normal travel time to fulfil on-call duties.

The role is Monday to Friday with participation in an emergency on-call rota plus opportunities for overtime and weekend working.

Salary - £28,407 - £34,581 pa plus local RRP (£3,277 pa), with an approximate £1,000 pa on-call retainer, overtime, 27 days holiday & voluntary pension scheme.

Qualifications

Essential

  • HNC in Building services plus specialist training and experience to graduate level, or equivalent gained through a relevant apprenticeship plus additional specialist knowledge and experience gained through specialist training, short courses and
  • Authorised/Responsible and/or Competent Person in one or more of the following specialisms:- LV Electrical Systems HV Electrical Systems Heating and Ventilation Systems Decontamination Safe Water Systems Medical Gas Pipeline Systems (MGPS) Confined Spaces

Experience

Essential

  • Extensive knowledge of the mechanical and/or plumbing systems in NHS premises.
  • In-depth knowledge of all relevant legislation and technical guidance.
  • In-depth knowledge of all relevant Health Technical Memorandum's
  • Significant experience working in a complex engineering/building environment.

Technical Skills Competencies

Essential

  • Skilled in maintenance, fault finding, test & repair work on a very wide range of complex engineering services & equipment, with the ability to work unassisted in varying, often technical environments whilst complying with Health & Safety/ environmental regulations and standards.

Other Requirements Specific to the Role

Essential

  • Participate in outside of normal hours on-call rota.
  • Full driving licence.
