Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for a highly skilled Electrical Hardware Design Engineer to join our team on a Permanent basis.
About the Role
- Lead and drive the project team to deliver high-quality electrical hardware designs.
- Review and approve designs developed by the team, ensuring compliance with agreed procedures and standards.
- Interpret and verify customer-supplied data, specifications, and drawings to inform design decisions.
- Lead the creation and modification of design packs, including system drawings, general arrangements, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Produce client design documentation and test documentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Support the production of tender documents and cost estimates, working closely with the project team.
- Assist in the preparation of Health and Safety documentation and support site acceptance testing and commissioning.
Essential Skills
- Experience of control systems within the energy market or similar utility sectors.
- Experience of field cabling systems, including surveying and identifying routes, cable calculations, and earthing/protection.
- Experience of control panel design, incorporating PLC, I/O, Comms cards, UPS's, and other relevant technologies.
- Relevant education to at least degree level or HND with additional experience of at least 5 years post-graduate or 6 years post-HND experience in the above areas of expertise.
- Computer literacy with Word, Autocad, and Excel experience.
- Methodical approach to interpreting customer requirements and delivering project documentation.
- Understanding of the full project lifecycle.
- Current full driving license (UK or ability to easily convert to full UK).
Desirable Skills
- Experience in at least one of the following: Rockwell (Control Logix), Siemens (PC7S, TIA Portal), Schneider (M580, M340), or Site Installation and Commissioning experience of control systems.
- Experience of Motor Control Centres – specification, procurement, installation, etc.
- Good understanding of BS7671 IEE 18th Edition Wiring Regs.
- Awareness of/understanding of DSEAR Regulations and Hazardous area applications.
- Awareness of/understanding of Functional Safety (IEC 61508/61511).
- Ability to work to deadlines and budgets.
- Familiarity with databases.
