About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Pharmacy Technician Training Lead to join our team at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. As a key member of our pharmacy department, you will be responsible for providing leadership and management to our pharmacy technicians and assistants, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and management to pharmacy technicians and assistants, including workload organization and staff supervision.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of pharmacy objectives related to dispensary services.
  • Share best practices in medication safety with the department and ensure staff demonstrate the necessary competencies for safe and secure handling of medicines, in line with GPhC and RPS standards.
  • Provide a safe, efficient, and patient-focused pharmacy service to all users.

Requirements
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Pharmacy Services or BTEC or equivalent in Pharmaceutical Science (with underpinning knowledge).
  • Professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council of Great Britain.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Member of the Association of Pharmacy Technicians (APTUK).
  • Management/Leadership qualification.
  • Medicines Management qualification.
Knowledge and Experience
  • Understanding of all regulations and legislation relevant to Pharmacy Services.
  • Knowledge of Pharmacy computer systems.
  • Knowledge of relevant Human Resources policies and procedures and how to apply them consistently and effectively.
  • Good working knowledge of pharmacy procedures and practice.
  • Current knowledge of hospital pharmacy practice.
  • Basic knowledge of clinical pharmacy.
Experience
  • Relevant post-registration experience in a hospital Pharmacy Dispensary.
  • Relevant experience in a supervisory capacity in a hospital pharmacy or a related area.
  • Experience in writing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Experience of training, mentoring, and assessing staff.
  • Experience of error management, incident reporting, and investigation.
