We are seeking a dedicated SEN Specialist to join our team at GSL Education. As a SEN Specialist, you will play a crucial role in providing tailored support and interventions to students with special educational needs (SEN) to ensure they receive the appropriate assistance to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify students' specific learning needs and areas of development.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to create and implement personalized learning plans and interventions.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEN, both in the classroom and in dedicated SEN provision areas.
  • Monitor students' progress and adjust support strategies as needed to ensure ongoing improvement.
  • Liaise with parents/carers to communicate progress, provide support, and address any concerns or questions.
  • Support the school's SENCO in maintaining accurate records, attending review meetings, and ensuring compliance with SEN legislation and guidelines.
  • Contribute to the development of a nurturing and inclusive learning environment that celebrates diversity and promotes positive outcomes for all students.
Requirements:
  • Experience in managing behavioral challenges and implementing behavior management strategies.
  • Understanding of social and emotional needs of children with SEN, and ability to provide appropriate support.
  • Experience working with non-verbal children and proficiency in alternative communication methods.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognized teaching qualification.
  • Specialization or additional training in SEN, such as a SENCO qualification or relevant postgraduate certificate.
  • Strong understanding of SEN legislation, policies, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and a commitment to ongoing professional development in the field of SEN.
