Job Title: Ecologist Expert

Location: Knaresborough/ Harrogate - North Yorkshire, UK

We are seeking an experienced ecologist to join our multidisciplinary environmental practice. The successful candidate will have a higher level of experience from senior to associate and possess a strong understanding of wildlife legislation and the planning process.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct extended phase 1 habitat surveys and protected species surveys
• Formulate mitigation proposals and habitat creation schemes in collaboration with the landscape team
• Supervise projects under EPS licences for bats and great crested newts
• Prepare technical reports for planning submission and provide input to BREEAM Assessments, Biodiversity Net Gain Assessments, and EIAs

Requirements:

• Degree-level qualification in ecology or a related discipline
• Bat survey licence (Class 2) with experience of development licence application and supervision
• Associate or Full membership of CIEEM
• Excellent working knowledge of wildlife legislation and the planning process
• Good understanding of Biodiversity Net Gain assessments with competent handle on the use of the Defra Metric
• Experience of project management, preparing fee quotes, and excellent report writing skills
