Senior Science Technician
Teaching Personnel, a reputable educational services provider, seeks a highly skilled Senior Science Technician to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with an exceptional school based in London.
Key Responsibilities:
- Equipment Preparation: Ensure all equipment is prepared to teachers' specifications, meeting the highest standards of quality and safety.
- Inventory Management: Organize, prepare, repair, clean, transport, and collect equipment and materials in a timely and efficient manner.
- Practical Lesson Support: Assist and support in practical lessons and enrichment activities, providing a safe and engaging learning environment.
- Schemes of Work and Syllabi: Understand the Schemes of Work & syllabi of Science to prepare for practical lessons, ensuring seamless integration with curriculum requirements.
- Stock Orders: Prepare stock orders to ensure timely replenishment of materials and equipment.
- General Administration: Provide general administrative support, including data entry, record-keeping, and communication with teachers and staff.
- Health and Safety: Ensure full implementation of Health and Safety regulations, including carrying out risk assessments and organizing the safe and secure disposal of hazardous waste.
- Equipment Storage and Maintenance: Organize the efficient storage and record-keeping of chemicals, equipment, and machinery, and carry out safety checks on equipment, recording faults and action taken.
- Resource Development: Assist in the development of appropriate resources, schemes of work, and teaching strategies in the subject area, ensuring alignment with curriculum requirements.
- Team Management: Manage the allocation of work across the technician team, ensuring an appropriate quality of work, and arranging training, appraisal, and performance management.
- Animal and Plant Care: Ensure the welfare and care of plants and animals in the science area, and the security of equipment, maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
- Special Equipment and Modifications: Make up special equipment or modify existing equipment as necessary from sketches or instructions supplied by the science teaching staff, demonstrating adaptability and problem-solving skills.
Requirements:
- Excellent Communication Skills: Possess excellent numeracy, literacy, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with teachers, students, and staff.
- Experience and Flexibility: Have experience of working under pressure, meeting deadlines, working on one's own initiative, and working within a team, with a willingness to be flexible in response to changing situations.
- Relevant Qualifications and Training: Evidence of relevant qualifications and further training, with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Health and Safety Knowledge: Knowledge of appropriate Health & Safety regulations, with the ability to implement and maintain a safe working environment.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This is a temporary position, with the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
