About the Job:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Buyer - Product Development to join our successful business in Skelmersdale area. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in far east sourcing and buying, with excellent commercial awareness and business acumen.

The successful candidate will be responsible for researching and developing a commercial range, maximising sales and profit through effective sourcing, management of factories, knowledge of customer requirements, price negotiation and managing lead times.

Key responsibilities include reviewing and analysing current product lines, researching trends and developing new products, creating a range plan, working with our in-house design team to develop and create commercial designs, ensuring enquiry sheets are completed accurately with product specifications, sending enquiry sheets onto factories and ensuring we receive correct and best prices, understanding factory base - who can produce what, capabilities, limits, possibilities and source new far east factories where needed, using SAP to set item codes up and raise PO's to factories for new products and rebuys, sending product artwork, packaging artwork, colour proofs and any necessary swatches/samples to factories, creating a critical path and clear detailed order overviews for factories & the China team to follow, ensuring this is kept up to date at all times, checking pre-production samples and ensuring prompt approval is sent to factory so mass production can begin, communicating regularly with factory to monitor production status, answer any queries they may have and resolve any issues, checking production samples and ensure prompt approval is given to the factory and confirm to Shipping Dept goods are approved for shipment.

Requirements:
  • Experience in far east sourcing and buying is essential.
  • A good level of business and commercial awareness.
  • Able to prioritise own workload effectively.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Team working and relationship building skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Good problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • A good level of IT skills - excel proficient.
  • Experience of SAP preferred.
