About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Food Service Assistant to join our team at BD Group. As a key member of our catering team, you will play a vital role in preparing and serving meals to children and staff in a school lunchtime environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Cook Supervisor and Assistant Cook in the preparation and service of hot and cold meals and snacks.
- Support the team in maintaining the highest kitchen and food hygiene standards.
- Handle food storage and food preparation using commercial kitchen equipment as instructed.
- Set out the dining area and clear away and wash up.
- Use knowledge of food hygiene and allergens to ensure cross-contamination is avoided.
Requirements:
- A minimum of Food Hygiene Level 2 qualification (or be willing to work towards this).
- Ability to grasp and apply Health and Safety procedures.
- Knowledge of food allergens and cross-contamination principles.
- A friendly manner and willingness to learn, work hard, and deliver a great service.
- Ability to use initiative to solve routine issues and ensure safe working practices.
- Good grasp of the English language.
- An enhanced DBS check will be required for this role.
Working Arrangements:
- Part-time, Permanent (10 hours per week) usually between the hours of 11.30am - 1.30pm, Monday to Friday.
- Location: Designated sites in Barking / Dagenham / Ilford.
