About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Curator to lead the tree team and its associated activities at Westonbirt, The National Arboretum. As a key member of the arboretum's senior leadership team, you will collaborate with other senior leaders to help set direction for the arboretum and promote cross-team working.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the tree team and its associated activities, ensuring the highest standards of tree care and management.
  • Collaborate with professionals locally and globally to connect people with trees and improve the quality of life.
  • Develop and implement conservation techniques to maintain and develop the botanical collection.
  • Manage and support teams, creating a collaborative culture and inspiring others to achieve their best.
  • Represent Forestry England throughout the UK and internationally in a range of different settings.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A relevant professional qualification to level 6 (degree level or chartered membership) with comprehensive experience of working at a curatorial level.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of planning, with the ability to apply current best practice to maintaining and developing a botanical collection.
  • A successful track record of performance management, with the ability to develop and support teams.
  • An excellent communicator, with the ability to inspire others and represent Forestry England in a range of different settings.
