Are you a seasoned lawyer looking for a new challenge? Do you have expertise in payment services regulation, including the Payment Services Directive, e-money, consumer credit, open banking, consumer duty, or digital assets like cryptocurrency and NFTs?

About the Opportunity

We are seeking experienced lawyers with 4+ years' top-tier post-qualification experience to join our team as expert legal advisors in payment services. As a consultant with Peerpoint, you will have the opportunity to work on high-profile projects with leading financial institutions and help shape the future of payments law and regulation.

Your Responsibilities
  • Advise clients on payment services regulation, including the Payment Services Directive, e-money, consumer credit, open banking, consumer duty, and digital assets;
  • Lead projects related to payment architecture change, including industry initiatives such as Open Banking, Confirmation of Payee, and New Payments Architecture;
  • Work closely with retail, commercial, and corporate banking teams in the UK and across the EU on payments law and regulation;
  • Deliver strategic commercial agreements with partners, including banks and payment processors;
  • Provide legal advice and support for global projects, including cross-border expansion initiatives;
  • Advise on payment services and related regulatory issues;
  • Maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government relations and compliance teams.
What We're Looking For
  • A minimum of two years' post-qualification experience at a firm ranked as top tier for payment services or digital assets work;
  • Ideal recent in-house legal experience at a leading financial services institution (directly or as a secondee);
  • A desire to take ownership of your career and be responsible for your own professional development and network;
  • The ability to make effective transitions into new environments and deliver an excellent standard of service to each client;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to professionally deal with stakeholders at all levels;
  • Resilience, autonomy, and high credibility, with exemplary commercial/business acumen and client service ethic;
  • Proven project management skills;
  • A practising certificate (or equivalent) which entitles them to practise as a lawyer in the UK.

We estimate the salary for this role to be around £120,000 - £150,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications. Please note that due to the nature of the relationship between Peerpoint and our legal consultants, we are not able to sponsor visas.
