About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Land Acquisition Specialist to join our team at East West Rail. As a key member of our Land and Property team, you will play a critical role in driving the acquisition, transfer, management, and disposal of land and property required for our East West Rail project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Land Acquisition and Management: Drive the delivery of East West Rail through land and property deliverables and advice to secure development consent and assemble land required for the project.
  • Property Solutions and Transactions: Manage the delivery of property solutions and transactions, including temporary access, acquisitions, agreements, and leases to support the DCO, construction, and operation of the project.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Manage consultation and engagement with landowners and representatives to develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Land and Property Management: Manage land and property held by the project ahead of construction and operation.
  • Supplier Management: Manage suppliers to meet agreed timescales, cost, budget, and governance processes where necessary, initiating corrective actions.
  • Programme Coordination: Drive the coordination of the different elements of the land and property programme to time, cost, and budget and within the agreed governance.
  • Risk Management: Maintain property cost estimate and registers of land and property risks, issues, and opportunities, working with the EWR risk team and use professional knowledge to advise on risk mitigation.
  • Reporting and Monitoring: Report on progress and quality of key land and property deliverables and monitor and prepare reports for senior managers.
  • Health and Safety: Take responsibility for your own and others' health and safety by working to the EWR Co Health and Safety principles.
  • Role Model: Act as a role model for EWR Co's vision and values, behaving in ways that are aligned with EWR Co's Ways of Working, as well as encouraging and supporting others to do so too.
  • Diversity and Inclusion: Promote diversity in the workplace and adopt appropriate behavior when interacting with colleagues.
Requirements
  • Experience: Proven experience of managing a range of property transactions and negotiations, strong experience of maintaining effective external relationships to understand stakeholders' needs and priorities, experience of explaining property matters and reports to others who may not have a background in property, and experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver an overall programme of activities to acquire, transfer, manage, and dispose of land and property.
  • Education and Qualifications: Educated to degree level or equivalent, MRICS qualified, project management qualification (e.g., APM) desirable, and registered valuer desirable.
