About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic and ambitious Deputy Nursery Manager to support us in delivering an exceptional service to the local community. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for providing leadership and guidance to our childcare practitioners, ensuring high-quality education and care for children from birth to 5 years.

You will be part of a team that provides a warm and welcoming environment within the Nursery, where young children and their families can feel valued and supported. Your role will involve providing support and guidance to parents/carers, enabling them to extend their own skills and boost their confidence and self-esteem.

You will be responsible for the display and maintenance of a safe, stimulating, and interactive learning environment in the Nursery. You will also assist in the planning, preparation, and delivery of an effective programme of age-appropriate activities to help babies and young children develop as individual learners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to childcare practitioners
  • Ensure high-quality education and care for children from birth to 5 years
  • Support and guide parents/carers
  • Display and maintain a safe, stimulating, and interactive learning environment
  • Assist in the planning, preparation, and delivery of age-appropriate activities
Requirements

We are looking for someone with a Level 3 childcare qualification (NNEB, BTEC, NVQ3, or similar) and evidence of success in a leadership position within a childcare setting. You will also need to have a detailed knowledge and understanding of Ofsted Standards and the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Other requirements include:

  • Excellent customer care skills
  • Ability to complete and update children's personal development records
  • Able to speak two or more local community languages
  • Ability to work flexibly to ensure the nursery operates effectively at all times
  • Ability to travel between sites when required
  • Ability to respect and communicate the YMCA's Christian ethos
