Nailsea, North Somerset, United Kingdom Teaching Personnel Full time

An innovative educational setting in Clevedon, prioritizing holistic support for 12 girls with complex trauma needs, seeks a dedicated and empathetic Teaching Assistant/ HLTA. By joining this exceptional team, you'll have the opportunity to make a profound difference through tailored 1:1 or 2:1 sessions, catering to students with ASC (Autism Spectrum Condition) and GCSE potential.

This unique school, nestled in a converted house, fosters a warm, homelike atmosphere, promoting personal growth alongside academic progress. Lessons are structured around the AQA portfolio model, with each staff member providing close support to 1-2 students.

Through a nurturing and flexible approach, learning extends beyond the classroom, often taking place in nearby coffee shops or on local beaches. This approach allows for a deep understanding of each student's needs, creating a safe and encouraging environment for growth and development.

Position Details:

  • Start Date: Immediate, commencing in November and extending through the academic year, with potential for contract extension
  • Hours: Monday to Thursday, 8:30 am to 4:00 pm, and Friday, 8:30 am to 12:30 pm (term time only)
  • Daily Structure: Includes 2 hours of planning, with no lunch or playground duties, and no marking required
  • Pay: An enhanced TA rate of £100+/day, paid weekly

The students, aged 11-18, each follow an individualized Education and Care Plan (ECHP), tailored to their academic and personal needs. Our approach is centered around building meaningful relationships, promoting connection, and avoiding punitive strategies. Instead, we focus on restorative practices, empowering students to feel supported, encouraged, and confident in their abilities.

Ideal Candidate Requirements:

  • Transportation: Must be able to drive, as the school is located in the BS21 (Clevedon) area
  • Behavioural Support: Experience in managing and de-escalating challenging behaviours with a calm, effective approach is essential
  • Positive and Engaging Presence: A strong ability to create a welcoming, safe, and supportive learning environment is crucial
  • Relevant Experience: Previous experience working with young people who have displayed challenging behaviour is highly beneficial

If you're ready to make a lasting impact on these students' lives, please contact Charlie for further information. We look forward to welcoming you to our team.
