Job Title: Children's Home Manager

Meridian Business Support is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Children's Home Manager to lead our residential care services. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the daily operation of our children's homes, ensuring the highest standards of care and support for our young people.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Manage the daily running of the children's home(s) in line with company policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Supervise and provide guidance, support, direction, and leadership to staff.
  • Model best practice approaches during challenging behaviors, ensuring high levels of care.
  • Register as a Manager with OFSTED and work directly with the senior management team.
Key Tasks:
  • Ensure policies, procedures, and frameworks are up to date and implemented daily, representing best practice and reflecting the company's culture.
  • Evaluate the quality of care provided by staff and make improvements where necessary.
  • Model best practice approaches to working with and supporting children with challenging behaviors.
  • Ensure effective handovers and debriefs for staff.
  • Participate in the placement of children and their transition process.
  • Review the staffing structure and support HR with recruitment, induction, and training.
  • Review the budget needs within the home.
  • Ensure daily practice reflects the equality and diversity goals of the company.
  • Work effectively with professionals and multi-agencies for the best care of the young people.
  • Conduct supervisions, welfare meetings, and disciplinary meetings as required.
  • Provide consistent leadership and implement performance plans where needed.
  • Conduct probationary reviews and appraisals.
  • Directly manage team leaders and ensure they are equipped to be line managers.
  • Take part in scheduling shifts and working on the rota to ensure the home is staffed appropriately.
  • Ensure staff, visitors, and young people are safeguarded daily and health and safety protocols are followed.
  • Work with staff to ensure positive outcomes, reducing incidents, and providing a safe environment.
  • Report any work situation that may cause imminent danger.
  • Monitor and maintain standards against agreed criteria and objectives.
Qualifications:
  1. Relevant Management qualification, such as a level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management.
  2. Relevant Social Care qualification, such as an NVQ-level 5.
  3. Willing to work towards the next appropriate level of qualification and any further courses and training seen relevant by the company.
  4. Up-to-date safeguarding training.
  5. DBS on update service.
  6. Relevant NVQ/Level 3 Diploma or equivalent.
  7. Pass registration with OFSTED.
