About Global Supply Management

Global Supply Management (GSM) is responsible for helping AMEX maximize the purchasing power of over $9B of third-party spend. We provide strategic consultation to the business and provide end-to-end procurement services. Our goal is to drive the best value from our supplier base, which frees up investment capacity. GSM works closely with our business partners to manage the supplier strategy for the Company, identifying and onboarding new suppliers, realizing significant cost savings and revenue generation, and ensuring an optimal user experience for AMEX employees and suppliers.

Position Summary:

As a Sourcing and Contract Manager within the Source to Contract team, you will be responsible for developing and executing the most effective strategy for agreements of varying complexity, in alignment with the GSM Category Management team and other subject matter experts. Your goal will be to deliver maximum value to the business through the sourcing and contracting process.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing centralized support for the end-to-end sourcing and contracting process for various categories.
  • Developing and maintaining business-trusted advisor relationships to implement Category Strategies, with a customer-first mindset and strategy.
  • Leading the development and execution of the sourcing process (RFI, RFP, RFQ) in alignment with the Category Strategy.
  • Driving value and competitive advantage to our business partners through effective supplier negotiations.
  • Reviewing and identifying supplier risk, working with Third Party Risk Management teams and business stakeholders to support strong supplier governance.
  • Managing the end-to-end contract process in line with required policies, standards, and processes.
  • People Leadership for Contract Associate(s).
Qualifications:
  • Significant experience working in a Supplier Management, Procurement, or Contract Management role.
  • Demonstrated experience managing large and complex procurement contracts.
  • Passion for using analytics to develop insights and recommendations, solve business challenges, improve the customer experience, and drive bottom-line results.
  • Experience leading and participating on cross-functional and/or global teams.
  • Outstanding relationship management skills, able to become a true business partner and a trusted advisor.
  • Executive presence and ability to work with colleagues and suppliers at all levels.
  • Excellent people skills, including relationship management, communication, negotiation, influencing, planning, presentation, and motivation.
  • Collaborative and team mindset.
  • Ability to manage day-to-day business priorities along with long-term strategic deliverables.
  • Positive attitude, flexibility, and ability to deal with ambiguity and rapid change.
  • Experienced People leader with the ability to coach and develop talent.
