Cloud & DevOps Engineer

Barclays is seeking a highly skilled Cloud & DevOps Engineer to spearhead the evolution of our digital landscape. As a key member of our team, you will design, develop, and improve software solutions that provide business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop high-quality software solutions using industry-aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Participate in code reviews, promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing, and stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations.
  • Implement effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
  • Identify ways to mitigate risk and develop new policies/procedures in support of the control and governance agenda.
  • Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work done.
Requirements
  • Firm understanding of DevOps/CICD with hands-on experience with DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Bitbucket, Gitlab CI, Gradle, Maven, and their equivalents.
  • In-depth experience with PaaS and Cloud Platforms such as AWS, Openshift, or equivalents with Infrastructure as Code experience such as Cloud Formation, Terraform, or equivalents.
  • Software engineering background with experience with coding/scripting with BASH, groovy, python, java script, go lang, or equivalents.
  • Understanding of SRE principles with monitoring and observability tools experience such as AppDynamics, ELK, AWS CloudWatch, AWS XRay, etc.
  • Strong communication skills, verbally and in writing, able to tailor your message appropriately to the audience.
