Head Sommelier Job Description

At Estiatorio Milos, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Sommelier to lead our wine and beverage program. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing our extensive wine and beverage selection, educating our guests, and providing exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage all aspects of the wine and beverage program, including ordering, inventory, and cost management.
  • Develop and execute wine and beverage training programs for our staff to improve their knowledge and skills.
  • Collaborate with our Beverage Director and chefs to update our wine list and ensure a high-quality beverage program.
  • Assist with daily operational duties, including reporting and opening/closing procedures.
  • Educate guests about our beverage selection and provide recommendations for wine pairings.
  • Ensure wines are served at the right temperature and in proper stemware.
  • Lead by example to promote a positive and professional team environment.
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and guidance to our service team to ensure ongoing development and motivation.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of three years' experience in a sommelier role.
  • Previous experience in a fine dining establishment is preferred.
  • Proven knowledge of food and beverage pairings.
  • Strong understanding of pricing, budgeting, and cost management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken. Second language is an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and people-management skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Salary: $17.50 per hour.
