Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Lead Design Manager to join our Buildings team. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for managing the design process and overseeing the delivery of defence projects from inception to completion.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing the appointment of the design team and ensuring contracts are executed efficiently, effectively, and within budget.
  • Developing and implementing a comprehensive design management plan to ensure all stakeholders are aware of their roles and responsibilities.
  • Coordinating the production and management of design deliverables, including employers' requirements, design programmes, and CAD protocols.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, including CDM (Construction Design and Management) regulations.
  • Leading buildability and value engineering reviews to optimize project outcomes.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Demonstrable experience of delivering defence projects working through bid, PCSA, and delivery stages.
  • A clear understanding of MOD/DIO standards and a proven track record of working within secure UK environments.
  • Knowledge of varied forms of contract, including NEC3, MPTC, and JCT.
  • Experience in managing design delivery, building, civil engineering, and MEP installations.
  • Familiarity with digital technologies, such as BIM, design coordination software, and ISO19650 Information Management standard.
