Senior Security Operations Threat Analyst

Red Snapper Recruitment Limited is seeking a highly skilled Senior Security Operations Threat Analyst to join our client's team in West Mercia. As a key member of the Digital Services team, you will play a crucial role in the control and monitoring of security services and underlying technologies.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cybersecurity, with experience in threat hunting, analysis, and mitigation. You will be responsible for proactively identifying and addressing security incidents, ensuring timely escalation in line with local and nationally set policing security standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical security operational advice and assurance to Digital Services-based projects and activities.
  • Developing processes to strengthen the Security Operations Framework, following policies and procedures to address emerging threats.
  • Working with the Digital Services team to gather data, hunt threats, and plan mitigation strategies.
  • Creating reports, dashboards, and metrics for security operations and presenting to the Security Operations Manager and Senior Managers.
  • Ensuring technical security measures align with nationally set policing security standards.
  • Providing patch management support to users, endpoints, and appliances.
  • Assisting with independent technical security health checks and implementing remedial actions.
  • Monitoring security services for intrusion detection, prevention, and mitigation.

Requirements:

  • Diploma level (Level 5) in an ICT related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Recognised Security Qualifications such as CISSP and/or HMG's CESG Certified Professional (CCP).
  • Microsoft Azure SC-200 or other vendor qualifications for threat hunting.
  • Knowledge of Industry Best Practice and relevant guidelines such as ITIL 4 Foundation.
  • Knowledge of current Information Technology Standards and Techniques.
  • Significant knowledge and understanding of technical security threats and trends.
  • Experience in threat hunting, threat analytics, and security application and tooling.
  • Experience working with SEIM and EDR tooling.
  • Experience with monitoring and securing on-premise and cloud-based solutions.
  • Experience using vulnerability management solutions.
  • Experience in reporting and managing threats and IT incidents.
  • Experience managing sensitive enquiries confidentially.
  • Experience consulting with wider IT teams and external entities.
  • Experience working with modern security detection and prevention technologies.
  • Experience in providing patch releases, patch schedules, and patch deployment coordination.
  • Knowledge of disaster recovery and continuity exercises.
