About the Role

Protocol Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teacher to join our team. As a SEMH Teacher, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build strong, positive relationships with students who may have experienced trauma or difficulties in mainstream education.
  • Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that support both academic and emotional development.
  • Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including mental health professionals, teaching assistants, and external agencies, to provide tailored support.
  • Implement strategies to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour, fostering a safe and respectful learning environment.
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience working with students who have SEMH needs, or in a similar setting.
  • A positive, resilient attitude and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • A deep understanding of the impact of trauma and adverse childhood experiences on behaviour and learning.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a passion for helping students succeed both academically and personally.
