About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Solution Architect to join our team at Informed Solutions. As a key member of our engineering discipline, you will play a pivotal role in shaping solutions to meet clients' needs, aligning with their technology strategies, and championing technical best practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Documentation: Develop robust software architectures capable of meeting both functional and non-functional requirements, working closely with clients and colleagues to ensure alignment.
  • Collaboration and Consensus: Achieve consensus on potential solution designs, technology choices, and delivery approaches with client technical and business stakeholders.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Provide technical guidance on solution architecture concepts to both Informed and client teams, ensuring a deep understanding of the latest technologies and trends.
  • Implementation and Assurance: Ensure the implementation of solutions remains aligned with the originally envisaged architecture and desired client outcomes, providing assurance across multiple increments.
  • Technical Governance: Represent your team and client in technical governance forums, influencing company-wide architecture best practices, standards, tools, and artefacts.
  • Professional Development: Promote the professional development of others, building new capability, and sharing best practice within the Engineering discipline.
  • Industry Engagement: Stay up-to-date with the latest technology, services, techniques, and methods, bringing innovations into our work and contributing to industry forums and events.
Requirements
  • Architecture Expertise: Experience and understanding of architecture patterns and concepts for enterprise-scale solutions, including integration, security, and scalability considerations.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Proven ability to collaborate with client technical stakeholders to define and agree solution architectures, conveying complex technical concepts in a non-technical manner.
  • Technical Leadership: Demonstrated capability in leading collaborative design and decision-making with clients, with a proven track record in shaping solutions to meet business and user needs.
  • Cloud and Hybrid-Cloud: Intimate knowledge of architecting modern, innovative digital services, with experience working with cloud and hybrid-cloud architectures.
  • Agile Delivery: Background in Agile delivery environments, delivering software solutions in controlled increments, and collaborating with team members from other disciplines.
  • Technical Skills: Understanding of modern programming languages, distributed system architectures, cloud technologies, and CI/CD pipelines.
Desirable Skills and Experience
  • Legacy System Integration: Skilled in working with architectures that involve legacy systems integration and/or modernisation.
  • Transitional Architecture: Experience developing transitional architecture roadmaps for proposed solutions.
  • Data Science and Machine Learning: Capability designing and implementing architectures that operationalise data science and Machine Learning components.
  • Structured Assessment Frameworks: Expertise in evaluating existing solutions using structured assessment frameworks, such as the AWS Well Architected Framework.
  • Sensitive Data Handling: Hands-on knowledge of designing and implementing software architectures capable of handling sensitive data.
  • Commercial Awareness: Commercial awareness with ability to balance trade-offs where necessary to ensure a successful delivery.
  • Domain-Relevant Accreditations: Domain-relevant professional accreditations/certifications at an advanced level.
  • GOV.UK Digital Service Standard: Awareness of the GOV.UK Digital Service Standard and Technology Code of Practice.
