Job Title: Deputy Director of Development

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Deputy Director of Development to join our prestigious client in the education sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development team and driving fundraising efforts to support the client's key priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement cultivation and solicitation strategies for mid-level and major donors
  • Oversee the implementation of a comprehensive stewardship and recognition program for all donors
  • Manage the development team's fundraising financial operations, including database management and financial systems
  • Collaborate with the Director of Development to create fundraising literature and develop fundraising proposals
  • Lead, mentor, and manage the development team, including the Campaigns and Data Officer and the Development Officer
  • Provide expert advice on philanthropic best practices to the team and colleagues
  • Ensure all donations are in line with the client's policies and comply with relevant tax-efficiency regulations

Requirements:

  • Proactive and self-sufficient with a solid understanding of development work within the higher education sector
  • Mass fundraising experience in an organization of equivalent or greater complexity
  • Proven ability to build relationships and work collaboratively
  • Experience managing and training team members, including indirect responsibility for the work of others
  • Highly numerate with Donor Management Database expertise and demonstrable experience developing databases, data entry systems, and manipulating data
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail and ability to work well under pressure
