Job Title: Teacher of Geography

We are seeking a passionate Teacher of Geography to join a thriving secondary school in Northampton. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire and educate students in a supportive and dynamic environment.

The Role:

We are looking for a motivated Teacher of Geography to deliver high-quality education to students at KS3 and KS4 levels. In this role, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging lessons that meet the diverse needs of your students, while also contributing to the wider school community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lesson Planning and Delivery: Plan, prepare, and deliver geography lessons that cater to the abilities of all students.
  • Student Progress Monitoring: Monitor and assess students' progress, providing regular feedback and support to help them achieve their full potential.
  • Curriculum Development: Contribute to the development of the geography curriculum and participate in departmental meetings.
  • Classroom Environment: Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and respect.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Engage with parents, guardians, and colleagues to support student success and wellbeing.
Minimum Requirements:

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following minimum criteria:

  • Experience: At least 1-2 years of teaching experience in a secondary school, with a strong understanding of the geography curriculum.
  • Qualifications: A relevant degree in geography or a related subject, along with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK.
  • Training: Experience in classroom management and differentiated instruction. Familiarity with safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate students.
Preferred Requirements:

To be considered for the higher end of the salary bracket, candidates should demonstrate:

  • Advanced Teaching Experience: Extensive experience in teaching geography at GCSE level, with a proven track record of student success.
  • Leadership or Coordinator Roles: Experience as a geography subject lead, department coordinator, or involvement in extracurricular activities related to music education.
  • Professional Development: Continued professional development (CPD) in geography education, including advanced training or certifications that enhance teaching practice.
