We are seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to join our team in a supportive and welcoming secondary school. As a Teaching Assistant, you will be working closely with students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) within a mainstream secondary environment.
About the Role:This is a great opportunity to work in a school that values its staff, offers Continuing Professional Development (CPD), and has low staff turnover. The school is looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant who can hit the ground running in September.
Key Responsibilities:- Supporting students with SEN on a 1-1 and small group basis
- Working with students up to GCSE level in various departments
- Running small group literacy intervention classes and identifying students who require additional support
- Encouraging and facilitating independent learning
- Supporting classroom management and maintaining a positive learning environment
- Helping to assess student progress and providing feedback
- A bachelor's degree (minimum lower second)
- A desire to work with children and young people and to support their learning
- Experience working with children aged 11-16 in a school environment
- A desire to work with students with SEN and an understanding of the barriers they may face
- Ability to build and form working relationships with students, parents, and staff
- Ability to work on own initiative and to prioritise between conflicting demands
