We are seeking a highly skilled Art Therapist to join our team at a special needs school in Sunderland. As a dynamic and creative individual, you will play a crucial role in nurturing creativity in our students within a stimulating sensory setting.

Key Details:
  • Position: Teaching Assistant (Art Therapy Specialist)
  • Location: Sunderland
  • Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm
  • Rate of Pay: £83.85 per day (£541.40 weekly, estimated annual salary £28,035.20)

Job Description:

As an Art Therapist, you will engage students through dynamic activities, including art therapy sessions, music, physical education, and cooking. Your focus will be on providing personalised support and improving students' communication and hand-eye coordination. You will also assist with sensory integration in the classroom and collaborate with teachers to assess students' abilities and progress.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement engaging art therapy sessions for students
  • Provide one-on-one support to students with specific needs
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement lesson plans
  • Assist with sensory integration and provide a safe and nurturing environment for students
Requirements:
  • Qualifications in Art Therapy or related field
  • Experience working with children with special needs
  • Strong passion for making a positive impact and influencing students' lives
