About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Procurement Specialist to join our team at Croydon Council. As a key member of our procurement team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of a strategic procurement service, focusing on critical procurements with high value, risk, and complexity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Deliver Procurement Solutions: Develop and implement procurement solutions that provide cashable savings and process efficiencies for the organization, while improving outcomes for our residents.
  • Provide Commercial Input: Offer commercial expertise in the development of medium to high-risk/complex business cases through research, data analysis, and market viability assessment.
  • Lead Tender Process: Oversee the end-to-end tender process for assigned procurements, ensuring full compliance with standards and practices for tendering.
  • Support Procurement Processes: Promote the compliant use of procurement and purchasing (P2P) processes and systems for assigned areas.
  • Make Recommendations: Provide recommendations based on early engagement with suppliers, stakeholders, and lessons learned from other relevant contracts.
About You

To be considered for this role, you will ideally be working towards your MCIPS qualification and have up-to-date knowledge of current and prospective public procurement legislation. You will need a detailed understanding of the procurement and commissioning lifecycle, as well as the ability to use procurement systems and support the tender process.
