Electrical Engineer Opportunity at the University of Oxford

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Estates Services team at the University of Oxford. As an Electrical Engineer, you will play a key role in the maintenance and operation of electrical systems in our state-of-the-art facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct planned and reactive maintenance of electrical systems
  • Provide electrical support for essential systems, including HVAC, boilers, and plant equipment
  • Supervise contractors and support apprentice training
  • Engage with stakeholders to deliver high-quality service

Selection Criteria:
  • Education to at least City and Guilds part three or equivalent level
  • Significant experience in electrical wiring and fault diagnosis in facilities maintenance, particularly in scientific, laboratory, or technical research environments
  • Experience working in occupied premises, ensuring minimal disruption
  • Experience with CAFM systems and the Microsoft Office suite
  • Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills across a range of electrical systems
  • Ability to supervise contractors and manage electrical projects independently
  • Strong understanding of British health and safety policies
  • Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
  • Experience with control systems (e.g., TREND IQ Vision & 963)
  • Electrical maintenance experience with mechanical systems (e.g., HVAC, refrigeration, pumps, boilers)
