We are seeking a highly skilled Damp and Mould Expert to join our team at 5 Star Recruitment. The successful candidate will have excellent knowledge of building maintenance, surveying, and issues related to damp and mould.

**Job Summary:**

  • The Damp and Mould Expert will provide specialized technical expertise for the Lewisham Council's damp and mould service.
  • You will inspect residents' properties due to damp and mould concerns, submit expert reports, and ensure that works are completed to a satisfactory standard.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  1. To provide expert advice on damp and mould to internal and external stakeholders.
  2. To inspect areas managed by the Lewisham Council or where the council has responsibility.
  3. Produce detailed reports, including pictures and root cause findings, following building pathology exercises.
  4. To produce specifications of works to capture repairs required to remedy mould but also prevent reoccurrence.
  5. Attend various meetings with internal and external parties, including difficult residents and those who have taken legal action against the council.
  6. To oversee start dates, works in progress, standards of workmanship, materials, and health and safety measures.
  7. Monitor and report variances to agreed standards and recommend corrective action.
  8. Attend post-inspections to capture if works have sufficiently prevented mould growth and snag any potential failures.
  9. Be proficient in using devices, aids, and instruments for making assessments and diagnosis of building failures.
  10. Have an understanding of the National Housing Federation Schedule of Rates and good working knowledge of IT applications relevant to the post.

**Requirements:**

  • Excellent knowledge of building maintenance, surveying, and issues related to damp and mould.
  • Knowledge of HHSRS, Health & Safety legislation, and Quality Assurance principles.
  • Good working knowledge of tools used in surveying, IT applications, and the Disrepair pre-action protocol.
  • Customer-focused approach with strong risk assessment skills and ability to diagnose complex building defects.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with experience in preparing and presenting reports to associated parties.
