Electrical Quantity Surveyor Opportunity

O'Hanlon & Farrell Contracts Ltd, a leading Electrical Contractor in Northern Ireland, is seeking a skilled Electrical Quantity Surveyor to join its team. As a key member of the Commercial Department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the company's continued growth and success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Bring commercial acumen and strong negotiating skills to ensure the best outcome for the company.
  • Responsible for due diligence and appointment of subcontractors and specialists.
  • Review and liaise with internal operations on subcontractor/specialist monthly claims/payments.
  • Negotiate client and subcontractor final accounts.
  • Prepare, issue, and monitor monthly client valuations.
  • Monitor project costs against budgets and raise/resolve queries where necessary.
  • Attend pre-contract meetings and routinely liaise with clients, specialists, and internal operations/procurement teams.
  • Visit site to price variations, monitor, and review supply chain performance.
  • Work with finance to advise on and reconcile actual and forecast costs to budgets.
  • Oversee commercial and contractual aspects of relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
  • Support business development and tendering teams where required.
  • Liaise with estimating teams in handover of awarded projects to the contracts team, BOQ, and budgets.
  • Ownership of monitoring project drawings to ensure all updates/changes are captured, reported, and priced to clients.
  • Monitoring schedules/programs against labour performance.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants.
  • Mentor and support junior members of the commercial team.
Requirements:
  • Hold a relevant degree or relevant qualification or qualified electrician with relevant experience or quantity surveyor experience within construction.
  • Good IT skills, including proficiency in using Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Hold a full driving license.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts and relevant regulations (desirable).
  • Electrical contractor experience/knowledge (desirable).
  • Have a technical knowledge of electrical installations ranging from domestic to large commercial/industrial (desirable).
