About the Role
  1. This role involves undertaking mechanical design activities against assigned projects in an efficient and effective manner.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining design data within the Business computer design systems, preparing designs for authorisation and approval in accordance with design procedure, and conducting design activities with due cognisance of manufacture and operation of products.

Main Responsibilities
  1. To undertake work in accordance with the design office procedures and design and engineering standards.
  2. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all designs and specifications.
  3. Undertake regular design reviews to ensure compliance with design and manufacturing standards.
  4. To prepare detailed designs and specifications for production, including drawings, calculations, and bill of materials.
  5. To assist in the development of new product designs and improvements to existing products.
  6. To conduct design activities with due regard to cost, quality, and delivery requirements.
  7. To provide technical support and guidance to colleagues as required.
  8. To participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance design processes and efficiency.

We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled individual with a relevant engineering qualification and at least 5 years' experience in a similar role. You should have solid experience of CAD design software, preferably Solidworks or Autodesk, and be familiar with MRP systems, including creating Bill of Materials. Experience of working with composite materials and CE/UL compliant products would be advantageous.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. They will also possess a high level of flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to adjust to changing priorities and deadlines.

We offer a competitive salary of £38,000 - £43,500 per annum, dependent on experience, along with a range of benefits including flexible working hours, one day per week working from home, and continuous training and development opportunities.
