The Opportunity

We're seeking an experienced internal audit or regulatory assurance professional to join our team as an Internal Audit and Assurance Lead. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivering high-quality internal audits and regulatory assurance reviews within the Financial Services sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, manage, and deliver internal audit reviews and regulatory assurance reviews within the Financial Services sector, making value-add recommendations to senior management.
  • Support senior management in developing and delivering the annual internal audit plan.
  • Lead relationships with key internal stakeholders, representing BDO at client meetings, and attending senior management committee meetings.
  • Involvement in key activities, including recruitment, budgeting, resource allocation, quality assurance, and being aware of possible business opportunities for the team.
  • Assist in realising Internal Audit opportunities through marketing, recruitment, training, and development of methodologies.
  • Develop and train staff on internal audit service offerings.
  • Deliver assignments in the required timeframe as agreed with the client, maximising utilisation by working effectively and efficiently.
  • Ensure projects are well-managed and commercially viable by budgeting effectively and billing clients promptly.

About You

  • Extensive internal audit or regulatory assurance experience working within or with Financial Services.
  • Knowledge of the Financial Services sector and the UK regulatory environment.
  • Undertaken a range of internal audit or advisory assignments, with an understanding of internal audit methodology and techniques.
  • Recognised accountancy or internal audit professional qualifications and/or memberships, such as ICAEW, CIMA, CIIA, ACCA, etc.
  • Strong written and communication skills, ability to influence, lead, engage, and manage stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead complex reviews and be a team player.
