Job Summary

Major Recruitment Oldbury is seeking a skilled Steel Operative / Overhead Crane Operator to join our team in the Dudley area. As a key member of our manufacturing team, you will be responsible for operating overhead cranes, loading steel coils, and performing various tasks to ensure the smooth operation of our production line.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate overhead cranes to load steel coils onto a mandrel and feed them into the rolling mill.
  • Load and unload steel coils, and perform spot welding tasks as required.
  • Record coil usage and consumption on the shop floor computer system.
  • Operate various heavy equipment, including uncoilers, flatteners, shear welders, and accumulators.
  • Monitor and maintain the quality of steel products.
  • Read and use measuring instruments, such as tape measures, micrometers, and calipers.
Requirements
  • 1-2 years of experience in industrial manufacturing.
  • Welding experience and certification.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform repetitive tasks.
  • Effective communication and reading, speaking, and writing skills in English.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods, lift 30-50 pounds, and perform overhead reaching, bending, kneeling, crouching, pushing, and pulling.
