Introduction

Upham Inns is a growing company with a passion for running great pubs. We are looking for a talented individual to join our team as a General Manager Designate, responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our premium pubs across Southern England.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the pub in line with company procedures and adhering to brand standards. This includes leading by example with a hands-on approach to training, coaching, and development of the team. They will also be responsible for engaging with the local community to develop and improve repeat business, improve the reputation, and ensure the pub is an essential pillar within the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for the health and safety of guests, team, and visitors through constant administration of fire procedures, kitchen and health & safety assessments.
  • Ensure that standards comply with the license as the Deputy Pub Supervisor.
  • Overseeing all ordering to ensure it is in line with requirements while controlling stock and wastage levels.
  • Preparing team rosters at least 2 weeks in advance and in line with the company's labour budgets.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a General Manager of a gastro-style pub would be an advantage, but an experienced Deputy Manager with business hold experience looking for development into the General Manager role will be considered.
  • A consistent approach to driving the team to achieve the highest levels of guest service at all times.
  • A strong leader and motivator to foster effective team working in line with the company vision and direction.
  • Passionate about hospitality and delivering exceptionally high-standard of service.
  • Highly motivated, proactive, and reliable.
  • Available to work up to 48 hours per week including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
  • Financial understanding, experience working with P&L's, sales, and labour budgeting.
  • The right to work in the UK.

About Us

We own a collection of beautiful and individual premium pubs across Southern England. Our pubs are in idyllic settings in country villages and towns, where we are proud to be the quality local of the area, serving high-quality fresh pub food in a cozy pub ambience. Most of our pubs have some charming bedrooms as well. New to our growing family is Harper's Steakhouse, a new premium American Steakhouse brand that we started rolling out last year.
