Barclay Meade is a dynamic and forward-thinking organisation seeking an experienced Senior Category Buyer to join its procurement team. This exciting opportunity will see the successful candidate managing a portfolio of suppliers across either Powertrain or Chassis commodities, driving value through innovative procurement strategies and supplier collaboration.
About the Role:
As a Senior Category Buyer, you will develop and implement strategic sourcing initiatives to support production growth and cost reduction. You will lead supplier relationship management, ensuring high-quality standards and delivery performance. Your responsibilities will include identifying and integrating new market technologies to enhance product offerings, analysing market trends and providing strategic recommendations for supplier selection, and driving cost-saving initiatives through value engineering, negotiations, and supply base optimisation.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience in a similar procurement role, ideally within an automotive or manufacturing environment
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to negotiate and influence effectively
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
- Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- A degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent purchasing experience) is desirable

Located in Leicestershire, this opportunity offers a competitive salary of £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
