Product Governance - Investment Banking Assistant Vice President Job Description

At Barclays, we are seeking a highly skilled Assistant Vice President to join our Product Governance team in Investment Banking. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading on Product Reviews, becoming an expert on the Product and Services Register, and contributing to sustainability-related deliverables.

To succeed in this role, you should have experience with:

  • Investment Banking products and services
  • Governance and oversight
  • Regulatory implementation

You will be assessed on key critical skills relevant for success in the role, such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, and digital and technology, as well as job-specific technical skills.

In this role, you will be responsible for assessing the integrity and effectiveness of the bank's internal control framework to support the mitigation of risk and protection of the bank's operational, financial, and reputational risk. You will also collaborate with various stakeholders across the bank and business units to improve overall control effectiveness through detailed documentation of control assessments, procedures, and findings.

You will identify and investigate potential weaknesses and issues within internal controls to promote continuous improvement and risk mitigation aligned to the bank's control framework, prioritized by its severity to disrupt bank operations. You will also develop reports to communicate key findings from risk assessments, including control weaknesses and recommendations to control owners, senior management, and other stakeholders.

Additionally, you will execute reviews to determine the effectiveness of the bank's internal controls framework aligned to established and evolving policies, regulation, and best practice. You will implement adherence to the Barclays Controls Framework and set appropriate methodology for assessing controls against the Controls Framework.

You will identify ways to mitigate risk and develop new policies/procedures in support of the control and governance agenda. You will take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work done. You will engage in complex analysis of data from multiple sources of information, internal and external sources, such as procedures and practices.

All colleagues will be expected to demonstrate the Barclays Values of Respect, Integrity, Service, Excellence, and Stewardship – our moral compass, helping us do what we believe is right. They will also be expected to demonstrate the Barclays Mindset – to Empower, Challenge, and Drive – the operating manual for how we behave.
