Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Catering Assistant to join our team at Ayrshire College. As a Catering Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen facilities, providing exceptional customer service to colleagues and students, and maintaining a high level of cleanliness and hygiene standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the efficient functioning of the kitchen facility, including cleaning and maintaining equipment, fixtures, and utensils.
  • Provide a professional and customer-focused service to colleagues and students, responding to their needs and concerns in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure seamless service delivery, adhering to health and safety protocols and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Assist with food preparation, presentation, and serving, adhering to food safety guidelines and maintaining high standards of quality and presentation.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge, staying up-to-date with industry best practices and regulations.

Requirements:

  • Relevant up-to-date kitchen cleaning experience, with a strong understanding of health and safety protocols and food safety guidelines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Desirable: SVQ level 2 in cookery or equivalent, and a relevant food hygiene certificate at Elementary level.
