Traffic Management Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Senior Traffic Engineer to join our team at Job Switch Ltd. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in managing and progressing traffic management matters, achieving timely and effective traffic engineering outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and progress traffic management matters within an area-based or function-based team.
- Achieve timely and effective traffic engineering outcomes that meet the Council's Core Values and Best Value requirements.
- Deputise for the Principal Engineer as required.
- Evaluate statutory and legal obligations and communicate them in a customer-focused manner.
- Represent the Council as an expert spokesperson on Traffic Management issues.
- Supervise staff, contribute to staff training and development, and review professional standards.
- Contribute to the development of the Service Area and participate in strategic planning.
Council Specific Accountabilities:
- Management of People/Leadership:
- Supervise staff and contribute to staff training and development.
- Contribute to the efficient and effective performance management of the team.
- Strategic Thinking and Planning:
- Evaluate advice and recommendations based on the Council's policies and relevant legislation.
- Contribute to the development of policies, programmes, and systems to address changing demands on the Service.
- Managing Services and Delivery:
- Evaluate duties against the Council's policies and Code of Conduct.
- Develop and implement customer-focused standards for service delivery.
- Inform, advise, and respond to residents and customers.
- Take a lead role in traffic management work, ensuring effective and efficient delivery.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Familiarity with legislative, policy, and procedural frameworks within the Transportation Service.
- Able to comprehend technical issues relevant to complex transportation planning projects.
- Understanding of performance management techniques and ability to supervise and train staff.
- Experience of working at a senior level within Traffic Management, providing services to customers, and being accountable for these services.
- Experience of developing and implementing service improvements projects, including understanding of Best Value and quality assurance systems.
- Ability to ensure the delivery of traffic management projects within agreed timescales and with quality outcomes.
The estimated salary for this role is $75,000 - $90,000 per annum.
