Job Title: Senior MEP Planner

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Senior MEP Planner to join our client's team on a major energy project in the Southwest. The successful candidate will bring a strong understanding of NEC contract environment and experience in managing subcontractors and auditing subcontractor programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Programme Development: Develop and maintain comprehensive project programmes, ensuring compliance with planning procedures and guidance.
  2. Scope and Constraints: Identify planning scope, major constraints, and contract requirements, including major quantities and factors affecting the programme.
  3. Tender Planning: Collaborate with the project team to develop and agree on a strategic and optimized sequence and methodology for efficient design, procurement, and construction strategies.
  4. Detailed Planning Documentation: Produce and document comprehensive planning deliverables, including programmes, planning philosophy, presentations, and reports.
  5. Contract Planning: Manage the production, management, and maintenance of the Contract Programme, adhering to planning procedures and optimizing strategic planning elements with the Project Planning Lead.
  6. Critical Path Analysis: Evaluate the project critical path, advise the project team on results and corrective actions, and maintain project baselines while executing the change control process as necessary.
  7. Resource Management: Manage labour, equipment, and materials to meet project objectives while minimizing costs and delays.
  8. Contract Management: Manage contracts with subcontractors and suppliers, monitor performance, and resolve contract-related issues.
  9. Strategic Planning and Mentorship: Provide strategic planning oversight by implementing intricate scheduling techniques and actively mentor less experienced planners to foster a collaborative, knowledge-sharing environment.
  10. Data Analysis: Support the planning team in producing project data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress, identify deviations, and make data-driven decisions for project improvement.

Essential Requirements:

  1. Skills: Analytical and Problem-Solving, Data and Process Management, Excellent Communication, Negotiation and Conflict Resolution, Leadership.
  2. Knowledge: Proficiency in scheduling tools and software like Primavera P6, MS Project, or ASTA. Strong understanding of construction project management principles, methodologies, and best practices.
  3. Experience: Proven experience in producing and managing Construction Programmes across diverse and complex projects. A minimum of 5 years' planning experience. A qualification in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering to HND level is preferred.
