Endoscopy Specialist

Key Responsibilities- Provide a high-quality comprehensive gastroenterology service, including endoscopy, with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of illness, and the proper functioning of the service.
- Supervise and manage junior medical staff, adhering to local employment and human resource policies and procedures.
- Carry out teaching, examination, and accreditation duties as required, and contribute to undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing medical education activities, both locally and nationally.
- Engage in medical audit and other clinical effectiveness activities, particularly the Trust's Clinical Governance processes, to foster improvements in quality and standards.
- Cover for colleagues' annual leave and other authorized absences.
- Ensure compliance with the Trust's Equal Opportunities Policy and Health and Safety policies, maintaining a safe and healthy environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
- Respect confidentiality and adhere to the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998, in line with the Trust's policies.
- Participate in the 1 in 11 Consultant general medical emergency on-call rota, including cover for colleagues' annual leave and other authorized absences.
The Gastroenterology Service provides general and sub-specialty outpatient and inpatient care for gastroenterology and hepatology, including suspected cancers, as well as diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopies and an in-hours bleed service. We are a small district general hospital, part of an integrated Trust, and we aim to develop services utilizing the advantages of our unique position, best practices locally, and national guidance.
This role will cover all aspects of the Consultant's professional practice, including clinical work, teaching, research, education, and managerial responsibilities.
