Morrison Energy Services is seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator to join our team. As a Senior Estimator, you will play a crucial role in the preparation and submission of bids for energy infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities- Mentorship and Guidance: Provide guidance and support to junior estimators within the department, helping them to develop their skills and expertise.
- Tender Documentation: Understand and interpret tender documentation, including tender timescales, expected submission documents, contract information, project scope, site and works information.
- Project Risk Identification: Identify potential risks associated with projects and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Bid Preparation: Assist the bids manager in the preparation of the kick-off meeting and bids programme.
- Supply Chain Management: Work with procurement and commercial departments to prepare supply chain request for quotation information packs.
- Project Solution Development: Ensure that the project solution is understood and developed during the tender phase, and challenge it where necessary.
- Meeting Facilitation: Prepare for and chair meetings to identify project risks and discuss required project management levels with internal stakeholders.
- Cost Analysis: Analyze supply chain quotations, benchmark project costs, and test proposed productivity rates.
- Tender Price Preparation: Prepare the tender price in Microsoft Excel using supply chain quotations and applying internal plant and people rates to programmes of work/activity schedules.
- Tender Price Review: Prepare for and chair tender price review meetings with senior management and other internal stakeholders.
- Client Pricing Documents: Prepare the client pricing documents for submission, including required risk/contractual information.
- Post-Submission Presentations: Assist in the preparation and delivery of post-submission presentations to the client and/or attend negotiation meetings.
- Tender Folder Management: Save, document, and organize important tender pricing communications/information as per the tender folder structure.
- Stakeholder Relationships: Establish and maintain professional/effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Pricing Handover: Prepare and chair pricing handover meetings on successful bids.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify, communicate, and implement ideas for continual improvement within the tender process.
- Company Policies: Work within company policies and procedures.
- Additional Duties: Carry out any other duties as and when necessary to meet the varying demands of the business and client requirements.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years previous experience in an infrastructure estimating role (essential) or substation estimating role (desirable).
- Mathematical Competence: Mathematical competence.
- Microsoft Excel Skills: Good Microsoft Excel skills.
- Standard Microsoft Software: Competent in other standard Microsoft software.
- Communication Skills: Confident in written and verbal communication with internal/external stakeholders, including with senior roles.
- Engineering Knowledge: Basic understanding of engineering/construction technology and terminology.
- Engineering Specifications: Ability to read and understand engineering specifications and drawings.
- Contractual Terminology: Basic understanding of contractual terminology.
- Education: Mathematics and English GCSE or equivalent.
- Pressure Management: Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines.
- Flexibility: Flexibility in terms of working hours.
