Job Summary



We are seeking a skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at GKN Aerospace. As a key member of our East Cowes site, you will be responsible for designing and developing tooling solutions for complex problems. Your expertise in tool design, manufacturing, and quality assurance will enable you to make a significant impact on our company's operations.



Key Responsibilities


  • Develop tooling solutions for complex problems using Catia V5 and GKN's Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) tool suite
  • Design and develop tooling for high-degree process capability
  • Accountable for tool fabrication quotes, tooling input for new product quotes, and tooling configuration changes
  • Implement Lean initiatives to continuously improve production processes
  • Exemplify a safety-first mindset and ensure compliance with GKN Aerospace's Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and standards


Requirements


  • A HNC qualification in an Engineering-related subject or equivalent
  • Significant experience in Tool Design related to composite moulds and assembly jigs, Design for Manufacture (DFM)
  • Demonstrable experience of CAD Software (ideally Catia V5)
  • Experience of addressing issues within the supply chain; internal and external
  • Desirable: Working knowledge of quality system models such as ISO9000, AS9100, or D1-9000
  • Background in Aerospace industry
  • Familiarity with AS9145 APQP process or equivalent
  • Understanding and use of an ERP system
  • Experience of interpreting aged drawings
  • Green Belt Certified


This position requires UK National Security Vetting (UKNSV) Security clearance (SC) due to the nature and responsibilities of the work carried out. In order for us to obtain an SC, you usually need to have been resident in the UK for a minimum of 5 years to current date (but we do assess each case individually).
