About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Transport Driver to join our team at NHS Blood and Transplant. As a vital member of our operations, you will be responsible for collecting and delivering blood products, equipment, and staff to hospitals, blood centres, and blood collection sites across the country.

Main Responsibilities

  • Drive a variety of vehicles, including up to 7.5 tonne trucks, to transport blood and related products and equipment.
  • Operate digital handheld devices and complete electronic and paper-based records.
  • Load, unload, assemble, and dismantle equipment on a regular basis, including heavy objects up to 20 kgs with and without lifting aids.
  • Undertake emergency 'Blue Light' deliveries, for which training will be provided.
  • Provide excellent customer service to our colleagues, donors, hospital staff, and members of the public.

Requirements

  • Previous vocational driving experience or evidence of driving proficiency.
  • Able to work with information technology, including digital handheld devices and Microsoft Office.
  • A good geographical knowledge of the local area and road network.
  • Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance checks.
