We are seeking a highly skilled Occupational Health and Safety Specialist to join our team at VANRATH. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced professional to take on a challenging role in the public sector, working closely with the Health and Safety Manager.

About the Role

As an Occupational Health and Safety Specialist, you will be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance on all aspects of health and safety, promoting a culture of compliance throughout the organization. You will work closely with senior staff members, other professionals, and external consultants to ensure the highest standards of health and safety are maintained.

The ideal candidate will have a degree or recognized professional qualification in occupational health and safety, along with significant experience in a middle management role as a health and safety adviser. They should also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as experience in designing and delivering training programs.

This is a full-time position, offering a competitive salary of £35,000, plus holiday entitlement. The successful candidate will be required to work in Armagh, Northern Ireland.

Key Responsibilities
  1. To support the development of a healthy and safe working environment through the provision of competent health and safety advice, guidance, and information to all levels of staff and relevant committees.
  2. To identify health and safety training requirements in liaison with the Health and Safety Manager.
  3. To provide training on all health and safety matters to staff and to promote health and safety awareness through the design, delivery, and implementation of appropriate training programs.
  4. To maintain health and safety training records.
  5. To liaise with external consultants in the provision of health and safety services/training programs when required.
  6. To assist with the development, review, promotion, and implementation of the Client's Health and Safety policy/guidance documents.
  7. To assist in the development, review, and implementation of health and safety standards that measure the effectiveness of existing health and safety policies/guidance.
Requirements
  • A degree or recognized professional qualification in occupational health and safety.
  • Significant experience in a middle management role as a health and safety adviser.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in designing and delivering training programs.
  • A full UK driving license.
